Volunteering

learning how to carry a child on my back - not well!!

There are many different ways to help the work that Streets Ahead Rwanda does and volunteering is one of them. We have opportunities to volunteer in the field in Rwanda and here in the UK.

Volunteering in Rwanda

Volunteers can contribute skills and specialist knowledge which add real value to our work. Over the years, volunteers have travelled to Rwanda to help the children we support by working with our delivery partner the Streets Ahead Children’s Centre Association.

Eligibility of candidates depends on their skills and experience and the requirements of our delivery partners and placements are up to 3 months. We meet with candidates to prepare them for their experience in Rwanda, and provide advice and materials in advance of their trip.

Many former volunteers get involved with Streets Ahead Rwanda when they return. Often donating their time and skills as well as fundraising effrots – two of our current baord members are former volunteers! Volunteers in Rwanda have returned with long lasting affection and respect for the children we are supporting and the staff who work with them.

Kim&KateIf you would like to volunteer through us then send a brief CV and a note covering your motivation to info@streetsaheadrwanda.org.uk.

Volunteering in the UK

At Streets Ahead Rwanda we offer oportunities to help us as a skilled volunteer when the need requires.

Never heard of skilled volunteering? It’s just like pro-bono work and simialrly can be project based or continuous. Recent examples include a database engineer and a marketer.

Skilled volunteering is a great way to learn new skills, improve your skills set, overcome challenges, gain experience and develop useful networks from opportunities that might not have been open to you otherwise – all while helping a cause you care about.  Give your time and also make sure your CV shines regardless of where you are in your career.
